CONCEPT

Gooloo Gooloo (in China, Manumanu for other international markets) served as the focal character in ABCmouse’s International Products.

Fun-loving and fallible, Gooloo Gooloo engaged young audiences around the world. His willingness to try new things and make mistakes was integrated into his personality to encourage young language learners to follow his lead.

Short “appisodes” (3-4 min.) featuring Gooloo Gooloo introduced vocabulary and concepts, and inspired learners to continue along the “learning path” by playing interactive games featuring characters and concepts from the video series.

CONTRIBUTIONS

  • Defined the curricular framework for the series, including establishing language learning goals and social-emotional learning opportunities.

  • Participated in character and background design, including localization for different markets (e.g. selection of voice talent).

  • Reviewed scripts, animatics, and animation for all 150 appisodes for curricular alignment, developmental-appropriateness, and cultural sensitivities.
